![]() ![]() Depending on the length/volume I’m going after for the day, I will repeat those steps until I’m satisfied. Then I hold the mascara wand horizontal, and wiggle the brush at the base of my lashes (this is also the same way I apply mascara to my bottom lashes). I feel like it makes them get in the way.ġ2) Now I grab my favorite mascara, and swipe the tip of the wand brush over the ends of my lashes. I do not like to curl my lashes before applying falsies though. I try to get the curler to the very base of my lashes, half way, and then a little squeeze as close to the ends of my lashes as I can get. To make sure everything is even, I will brush some bronzer down my jawline and onto my neck.ħ) Right above the bronzer 'line’ on my cheek, I will brush on a little blush.Ĩ) Then I grab my “blending brush” which is a large soft powder brush, and blend the bronzer and blush.ĩ) Sometimes I’ll blot a little extra powder on top of the blush/bronzer, especially if I have a busy day ahead of me.ġ0) I don’t always wear eyeliner, but when I do, it’s usually on the top lid and well blended to not seem so defined.ġ1) I always curl my eyelashes before applying mascara. Then i go back to my forehead, and using just the bronzer already on the brush, and make a ‘3’ going down my face to the cheekbone and then to the chin. Then I brush a little down the bridge of my nose and into my chin. I focus around my hairline and make sure I get around and on my ears. It starts really defined! I do this to both sides and then move to my forehead. I start by sucking my cheeks in, and follow that line down my whole cheek. Typically for everyday use, I’ll use the Too Faced Soleil, and for special occasion or when I want to feel extra pretty, I’ll use my Nars. I use an angled bronzing brush, and load it up with one of two bromzers. So if I don’t use bronzer, I have a ghost face, which is incredibly un-amusing to me. The powder is mainly to set my foundation and prevent any shineyness.Ħ) After I’ve blotted my face with the powder, it’s time for bronzer! I am guilty of tanning (sprays and beds)… With my face cleansing routine (using a clarisonic twice a day, every day) I find it difficult to maintain the same color on my face as the rest of me. The only place I “drag” the sponge is under my eyes. Then I’ll take my pressed powder and get a little on my sponge and blot evenly on my face. If I have to correct anything around my brows, this is the time I will do it (take the beauty blender and just blot around them). I’ve found the brush that comes in the kit doesn’t work well for me.ĥ) Now my foundation should be nice and dry. I keep it simple with my brows and just use an ELF eyebrow compact, and a q-tip to apply the powder. As a natural blond with super dark colored hair, filling in my brows is a necessity! I also have just terrible eyebrows, so I’m working on training them to grow in better. Once I have an even coating, I use the side of the beauty blender without foundation and blot/roll over my face to blend the excess.Ĥ) I like my foundation to be nice and dry before I use any powder or blush/bronzer, so I do my eyebrows next. I’ll mix up my concoction on the top of my hand and lightly sponge the foundation all over my face. I’ve found that mixing shades helps a lot. I like to have a nice even and smooth starting point.Ģ) Then I grab my beauty blender and run it under water so it’s soaked through, and then blot the excess water out with a towel.ģ) I typically have a hard time matching my foundation to my skin tone. ![]() I enjoy sharing what I know and love with everyone around me, so I am going to break down my everyday makeup routine.ġ) I start out with a few drops of Marjoram oil and lightly cover my face and neck. My own personal expression being projected to the world for the day. Hyundai pushes the California heritage a bit by stamping the words "Designed in California" into the taillamps. And maybe the Hyundai Santa Cruz is just weird enough for the town. It’s also home to the eccentric University of California, Santa Cruz, which at one time didn't issue grades and which has the Banana Slug as its sports mascot. Located along the north central coast, it’s one of the largest in the state that’s not connected by interstate highway or major artery like the 101 freeway. The city of Santa Cruz is one of the odder ones in California. The truckish nature of the Santa Cruz will only go so far. And unlike conceptually similar (though not in scale) vehicles like the old Chevrolet Avalanche, there's no way to extend the bed into the cab by folding down the second-row seat and bulkhead. That's about a foot shorter than in vehicles such as the Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, and Honda Ridgeline. Now about that bed: Hyundai has it stretching out between 48.4 and 52.1 inches, depending on how it's configured. Hyundai hasn't announced a hybridized version of the Santa Cruz, and the 2.5 turbo engine won't be available on the Tucson. ![]() While the Tucson shares the standard 2.5-liter four with the Santa Cruz, it's available also as a hybrid model. Hyundai also plans to rate the 2.5 turbo all-wheel-drive model to tow up to 5000 pounds, which is about 1500 pounds greater than the lug rating for the naturally aspirated version. If Hyundai has kept the curb weight reasonable, the Santa Cruz may turn out to be pretty quick. The turbo engine will come attached to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. More promising is a turbocharged version of the 2.5-liter engine that Hyundai promises will deliver 275-plus horsepower. The only transmission with this engine is a conventional eight-speed automatic that feeds either the front wheels or an all-wheel-drive system. Hyundai promises it will be rated at 190-plus horsepower. The standard powerplant will be the 2.5-liter four that Hyundai drops into plenty of products including the Sonata sedan and the Tucson. Where the Santa Cruz may have a clear advantage is in its powertrain. Wheels will range between 18 and 20 inches, and the tires will mostly be all-season rated and on-road-oriented. And, like the Honda, the Santa Cruz offers a trunk behind the wheels that can be used as an ice chest. In the things-with-open-beds category, the Santa Cruz joins the Honda Ridgeline in the independent-rear-suspension club. Confirming expectations, the front end is held up by a pair of MacPherson struts, while the tail rides on a multilink system. Suspension design is also in common with the Tucson. Point is, the Santa Cruz is new, but the notions behind it aren't. Maybe the idea goes even further back than that, to the first owner who cobbled together cargo bodies for their Model T. And that's an idea that goes back at least to the 1957 Ford Ranchero and the 1959 Chevrolet El Camino. ![]() At its core, the Santa Cruz is-to oversimplify-the new 2022 Tucson shorn of its roof aft of the second-row seat. But it sure looks truck-ish, if not strictly a truck. Hyundai prefers the term "Sport Adventure Vehicle" over "truck" to describe the new Santa Cruz. Because the policy has changed, we updated the story to reflect that.
![]() ![]() Originally created as, the small internet company went through multiple mergers and acquisitions to become part of Booking Holdings, which has been publicly traded on the NASDAQ since 1999 and is a component of the S&P 100 and 500 indices. The history of goes much further back compared to younger companies like Airbnb, and gives a glimpse into how online accommodation has changed over the past couple of decades. Genius Level 2 additional benefits like room upgrades and free breakfasts are a bit misleading, as not every property actually offers them, so this should be looked at as an occasional perk. While Airbnb has attracted a lot of attention in the hospitality and travel industry over the past couple of years, before the home-sharing platform rose to dominance it was that was dominating the online accommodation sector. I do like the very low thresholds to reach the two different Genius levels, though note that unlike with the Rewards program where you can receive your 10% discount on virtually all properties (via its 11th-night-free deal), the discounts as a Genius are only on a limited number of properties. I also find upgrades to be less generous and room assignment poor when booking through online travel agencies compared to booking direct. Remember that for bookings made with online travel agencies like, in most cases, you won't earn hotel points or elite credit, and the properties don't have to honor your existing elite status (though some do anyway). If you book enough of the big-box chain hotels to carry elite status and earn hotel points, may not make sense for you. Remember, if you're looking to book a luxury property, it could be best to utilize a Virtuoso agent or Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and compare the benefits you'll receive over any savings toward a future stay with. Also, if you're a "free agent" with no loyalty to any one particular hotel chain or program and will never stay enough to earn elite benefits with an individual hotel loyalty program, can be a good way to receive some benefits (like that 10% discount) at lots of different, unaffiliated properties. It's best to use when looking at remote destinations, if you want to book a boutique hotel or a unique property or you know you have a one-off stay at a chain you'll never (or almost never) utilize again. If you're going to stay regularly at large hotel chains like Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott and Radisson, then I believe it's still best to book directly with those properties and earn hotel elite status, benefits and points. Even if you use the program much more than five stays within two years, your benefits will be capped to the above at the Genius Level 2 tier. There are only two levels of "status" with Genius: Genius Level 1 and Genius Level 2. (Photo courtesy of The Westbury Hotel, Dublin) If you complete five stays within two years you will move up to Genius Level 2, where you will receive: I also performed the same search without logging into my Genius account and the prices for those 14 Genius properties were around 10% higher when not logged in, so this is a genuine discount where available. On a sample search for properties in Westminster, London, only 14 of the 36 available included the Genius discount. I logged in to my Genius account to check how many select properties were included that 10% discount. Where you see a Genius logo next to a property, you can claim the discount. Related: 17 of the best hotel gyms in the world promises that these properties that have joined the Genius program have a rating of at least 7.5/10, so you can expect a quality property. While this is a very low threshold to meet, and lifetime membership sounds awesome, the only benefit of Genius Level 1 is a 10% discount on select properties that are part of the Genius program. ![]() If you complete any two stays booked through within two years, you will earn Genius Level 1 for life. You won't receive your normal hotel program points or elite status nights when you book through a third party, so why choose rather than booking directly through the hotel? It also owns Priceline, Kayak, Agoda, RentalCars and OpenTable. Instead, it just lists hotel properties that you can book, similar to Skyscanner or Google Flights for flights.
